Gemstones of the World is the most complete and comprehensive guide to the world of gemstones. This is nice but not what I was thinking that it would be.

All the photographs are too dark, and the colors in some have been enhanced until they are not even the true colors of the stones! Organic gem materials, such as coral, ivory, amber, and pearl, are also covered along with new-on-the-market stones like charcoite.
